The audit follows claims made by employees and former employees that Veolia, the private company that operates MMSD’s Jones Island and South Shore wastewater treatment plants, has been mismanaging the facilities.
Veolia denies the allegations, and its contract is up for renewal.
On Monday, the MMSD Commission set aside $100,000 for the audit. Next, the district must hire a firm to perform the audit and appoint an independent advisory committee to oversee it.
