This afternoon, a diverse group of Common Ground and HACM Tenants United leaders met with Ms. Ayanna Ellzey. We asked many questions, and had a frank discussion. We support her nomination to the HACM Board of Commissioners.

We especially value her understanding of tenants’ lived experiences, concerns, and frustrations—an understanding shaped by summers spent working in HACM properties and by the relationships she built with tenants.

We commend Chairwoman Charlotte Hayslett for recommending Ms. Ellzey, and look forward to working with her and the rest of the Board.

HACM has made progress, but significant work remains. That work must continue to be grounded in listening to tenants, responding to their concerns, and advancing meaningful change. We were glad to hear Ms. Ellzey echo that in our conversation.

We wish Ms. Yépez-Klassen well in her new role.
